Things that make me sad:

The terrorist acts in Paris :( My sympathies to everyone there, especially the family and friends of the hostages.

Another AirAsia plane lost at sea :(

The Steelers losing in the first round of the playoffs....

Seeing birthday notices for lj friends who haven't been around in years....

Listening to the last ep of Cabin Pressure (even tho it's hilarious!!)

Things that make me happy:

THEY'RE FILMING SHERLOCK AND IT'S A THROWBACK EPISODE!!

Benedict is going to be a daddy! :)

All of the nominations for Benedict and The Imitation Game!

The Pens are in first place \o/ and are as always, a contender for the Cup!

My new kitty (even tho he bites, hard!)

It's Saturday :D

And one minor irritant that really is terrible of me, but!

I'm sure Eddie Redmayne is great in The Theory of Everything, but it burns me up that he's being nominated for and may win awards for a role that Benedict played to perfection in Hawking, years ago. I know, that's stupid of me, lol

SO, anything you all want to get off your chests? LOL
ailurophile6: (i am sherlocked)
Yes, I'm happy to find out that Sherlock Season 4 (and a special!) will be filming next year. Glad to not have to wait so long for more episodes :)

Not that I don't love her, but I'm hoping Mary is dealt with for good in the special; I have no idea how they're going to deal with the baby :/

Haven't done much this week, since it's my vacation before starting the new job (I did go over yesterday to help out with some new testing and equipment at one of the locations). Just reading, watching Netflix streaming, shopping. Saw Jersey Boys the other day (long, not that great, but mom wanted to see it). Might go to the movies today too.

Cookout tomorrow at my brother's for the holiday \o/.

I deleted my tumblr to try and get away from fandom madness (I won't go into the many reasons that I do not like tumblr, lol). I unfollowed some fandom related twitter accounts as well, because it was getting a little ridiculous at my age LOL

Looking forward to the Chicago Stargate con next month. I might buy a gold or silver seat if I can find a good one for a decent price (not that I need more autographs!) and I will be bidding on David's Meet & Greet for sure (since I now have a decent paying job!).

That's my exciting life :)

Hope all my American friends have a great Independence weekend (yay for 3 day weekends!)!
ailurophile6: (cat sticking out his tongue)
Gloomy outside.

Taking a break from cleaning house (yay) this morning (almost done). Debating whether I should bother with the patio furniture since it looks like it's going to rain all weekend.

I really need to go to Lowe's and look at doors and flooring, but I have no motivation to do that or to caulk the bathtub (way overdue on that!). I also need to do some minor yardwork but I detest working outside, ugh. I think I'll ask my yard guy to do it and pay him instead, lol.

Maybe I'll go see How to Train Your Dragon 2 this weekend, IDK.

What are you doing? Gotta be more fun than what I'm doing LOL

In other news, I finally have my own cubicle. Now, if they installed my computer last night like they were supposed to, I might actually be able to work in my department today, instead of downstairs in the lab. \o/
ailurophile6: (benedict ginger)
to those who celebrate :)

Also, I just have to share the adorable picture of "Sherlock" wearing a "Sherlock Hemlock" muppet tshirt, LOL.

I'm currently listening, as is my Easter tradition, to Jesus Christ Superstar :)  I'm still an atheist , tho.  I just think this is one of the best musicals ever written!

Going to my sister's to spend the day with my family and celebrating Mom's 77th birthday.

Have a great day everyone!

because my furnace refuses to work, lol

Luckily, I have family in the heating/cooling business. My cousin Jennifer just called me and they are sending someone over later today.

I wasn't planning on a new furnace, but mine is 17-18 years old and has never worked properly, so it might be time.

How long are furnaces supposed to last, anyway?

The AC has always worked great, probably because I don't use it much. I prefer to open the windows :)

Now I plan to keep warm by thoroughly cleaning my house!

Hope you're all warm this weekend :D

If you are looking to buy any seasons of Supernatural on DVD, Best Buy has them starting at midnight for $12.99/season.

Also, mark your calendars for December 18th, 8 pm EST for "Christmas Magic" on the Hallmark channel.

Paul McGillion stars in it :)

Dear all,

LiveJournal will be unavailable for up to three hours starting at the following times, Wednesday, October 5. During this time, LJ might be unreachable, slow, or experience issues loading. This will affect all services, including LJ Talk & Scrapbook.

22:30 GMT

03:30 PM PST
04:30 PM MST
06:30 PM EST

The purpose of this downtime is to install new core routers, upgrade other network devices, and add more Internet uplinks to our primary datacenter. I expect the real downtime to be much shorter then stated above, but unforeseen problems could require up to three hours.

Thanks,
Andreas

Shorter THAN, Andreas.

Anyway, I am not confident that it will take 3 hours or less. LOL. When do their upgrades ever go as planned?!

See you all in a few days? LOL

Watched the season premiere of Glee last night. Was not impressed. Definitely not up to par with previous seasons, but I'll keep watching for Sue :)

I am watching Ringer, mostly because there's nothing else on at 9 on Tuesday that I want to see; I'm not sure that I even like it. It seems badly edited, for one thing. I guess I'll keep watching until I completely lose interest.

LOVED the homage to Desperate Housewives on Body of Proof!! Dana Delany rocks :D

I recorded Unforgettable but probably won't be able to watch it until this weekend.

Tonight, I am watching the Pens pre season game v. Detroit \o/ HOCKEY!!

Then, the season premiere of L&O SVU.

Tomorrow, more preseason hockey, then the premiere of Prime Suspect.

I'll probably record that teenage witch show? Secret Circle? ONLY because of Gale Harold, though.

Not too many new shows that interest me, but that's ok. Hockey and football keep me occupied, lol.

How can it win 4 years running?

I really need an icon that says "you say I'm a bitch like it's a bad thing" and one for all my whining posts LOL

Today's whine:

I finally get some time to read big bang stories, and they either go from the extreme of having so little McShep in them they might was well be gen, or so sappy and filled with totally OOC romance and fluff (and way too many unnecessary sex scenes) that I get nauseous.

And let's not even get into stories with John and Rodney in AU settings/occupations that just don't work.

I know I should not complain, these writers are putting all their work into entertaining us with no renumeration, and all that....which is why I hate being so picky, but gee I'd really like just one nice long story that's well balanced and not OOC.

The good news is that I've still got the vast majority of big bang and sga santa stories left to read....

;)

lol, I originally typed Happy BOXER day! :D

Hope you all had a nice Xmas!

I actually got some good gifts this year! Steeler Xmas earrings, a Kettering University tshirt (my oldest nephew Sean goes there), 2 CDs of Trek Filk music, a Target gift card, and new pics of all the kids \o/

(and yes, that's all I got, and it's more than usual, lol)

Going to see Avatar 3D IMAX today!!!! Then watching Pitt play in the Garage Meineke Car Care Bowl at my brother's.

Sometime this weekend I hope to see my BFF Thomas and his wife Christine, who are here for the weekend :D

Last but not least, let me show you the hotness that is Karl Urban:
